Valerie Blake & Senka Blake
High school, what a bore. It consists of hundreds of stuck up teenagers raging with hormones. Each jock or slut gagging for sex, each nerd clenching to a book, too afraid to talk to anyone, and then there was each ‘freak’ standing alone, smoking or reading weird fiction books with one hand and an half eaten apple balanced in the other.

My name is Valerie, and I am the most hated female to ever walk my world. Humans hated me, and even my kind hated me. I didn’t fit in at school, the stereotype groups didn’t range to my standards of ‘weird’. People called me a wannabe for thinking I used contact lenses and plastic teeth. But they were soon proven wrong.. After not even a year at school I moved away to a colder, more deserted place with my brother Senka. Unlike me, Senka was not all mysterious and dark, he had his fair share of love and feelings where as I was more fond of being alone and finding new places. Senka and I had a close bond, although he did hate me for having to move as it was my fault after all. We were 2 of many dark creatures of our kind, blood thirsty and raging with the anger of humans. But, it was rare to find a family of our kind around anymore. Families were classed as clans and in my days each dark creature roamed alone. Preferring the independence, I would only dream of being a lone vampire, but since our parents had died I was forced to raise my younger brother from his newborn stage to where I was. Since a child I was raised being trained by my father, a strong also dark vampire like myself. My mother and father always seemed to have a close bond but raising a family around other vampires was dangerous, we lived in darker lands because of my fathers background and so we were made to live independently. Insisted by my mother, when I turned 16 and was trained strong enough to protect myself and my little brother, I abandoned my parents to keep them safe and left for the lighter side of the lands which most humans lived in. I raised my brother until I stopped ageing at 19 years old and settled into a normal life at school. Within months a family friend noted me of my parents deaths, due to the dark vampires finding out about their created family, us. Since that day I have wanted revenge, and revenge is what I shall get.
I wasn’t the strongest, nor was I the weakest, I had been trained but yet there were vampires out there much stronger than me that some time in life I was bound to run into. But my life now consisted of running. Keeping my brother safe and keeping the last thing I actually cared about in my life. Without him, I was nothing.

July 7th
A creak of an old floor board rumbled through the abandoned house. A young girl, eyes glistening dark red and hair curled a gentle ebony colour. She sat up, a little dazed from sleeping and frowned for a moment. Her thin long legs guided her body across the room to the long hallway which laid outside her room. Her 17 year old brother crept out of his room also and fluffed his hair a little before walking to the stair case. Valerie glanced down to the ground floor, her dark red eyes glowed a little brighter with suspicion. The pair made their way down the stairs, Senka paused, shrugging as he suggested there was nothing there he wandered to the couch and relaxed. More interested, Valerie wandered a bit more around the house. Her movements stood quietly but her senses searched each crack in the wall, each door which had not been moved until her eyes met a white figure sobbing in the corner of the study. Confused, Valerie’s arched body stood tall again and her arms supported her body in a self hug motion.
“Hello?”
Valerie’s more gentler voice rang. The figure moved a little to view her but then returned to sobbing into it’s brought up knees. The figure was a young girl, around 6 or 7 years old, she didn’t seem one of them but Valerie knew she was not human. The glowing white circle of dust around her flashed a little brighter and then the girl stood, her height only reaching Valerie’s ribs.
“You have to leave”
The young girl cried. Valerie’s eyes sulked, she was not leaving again. Not this time but the girl noticed Valerie’s stubborn features and took hold of her hand. The bright blue eyes stared into hers and held a silent pleading cry.
“Please, I beg you. You are not safe here. They know you are one of the only families left, they are coming for you”
It’s sobbing voice hit Valerie a little but her darker side stood out more and forced the girls hand to let go. Her beautiful figure stood tall against the child’s and she backed a little, realising what it really was.
“Who are you? What are you? Why are you warning me?”
Valerie questioned only to notice small clouds of dust, just like the ones surrounding the child, to form a circle at her feet.
“My name is a mystery but I am neither one of you or one of them”
The nameless child stepped forward and stood only inches away from Valerie. It’s hand took hold of hers once again but this time cupped it along with the other. Valerie frowned a little, the child was cold. The air around them now grew cold and as she looked down the child’s hands were see through. Before she could say anything the child had disappeared and Valerie was left confused and still frowning. She backed before turning and returning to the lounge where Senka was watching TV as normal, unaware of what intruded their home. Valerie smiled to herself and walked out onto the porch. The light summer wind blew her hair softly and the sun made her pale skin glitter a little.
“Senka, I’m going hunting”
She spoke still facing forward, gazing endlessly towards the forest. Without even waiting a reply Valerie walked forward and continued until she reached the forest. The brother and sister never went hunting together or they would have bound to be killed years ago. Valerie was an explorer, she enjoyed finding new things and being outside. Apart from having her brother by her side, the fresh air and excitement of the outdoors was the only thing that made her a little happy. Once at the centre of the woods, Valerie settled innocently on a tree, watching the creatures and animals below her. The day light sun was cut out from the forest due to the trees so it wasn’t exactly 30c. Awaiting a target, Valerie leaned back against the tree and stretched her legs along the branch coming off, awaiting an easy target to arrive. Her eyes scanned every movement around her and her dark hair swayed gently to one side, hiding her slightly bright pale skin from view.
